Picante Restaurant
Alameda, CA

Color-drenched walls and vernacular architecture represent an authentic and indigenous Mexican lifestyle. Designed in association with Mexican architect Gerardo Alonso, Picante Playa is a renovation of a free standing building, previously a restaurant, at the edge of an existing shopping center. The 170-seat restaurant has a simple, rich red exterior. Guests are greeted with a cool, shaded interior and the colorful activity of the food preparation and service. A bright yellow splash of color from the skylight replicates a sunny courtyard and is the central focus for the dining area.

Patrons of this restaurant are treated to dramatic views of the bay and San Francisco skyline.
