Vibrant colors and a cheerful crowd brightened the grey skies that hung over the grand reopening of Oakland's Studio One Art Center. Sorely missed during its long construction, this publicly owned community center now houses art studios, display spaces, multipurpose rooms for meetings and dance, kitchen, scene workshop, small theater, darkroom, and classrooms for painting, jewelry making, pottery making, and glasswork. We invite you to explore your creative side by visiting http://www.oaklandnet.com/parks/facilities/rc_studioone.asp to sign up for their exciting programs.

Our team was excited to attend the grand opening party celebrating the new sobering center/detoxification facility. The facility provides a safe haven where chronic inebriates can recover from the effects of intoxication. Once sober, clients are offered an opportunity to receive further treatment in an adjacent facility that houses a comprehensive drug and alcohol intervention program. Our firm is drawn to such commendable projects and clients and looks forward to working on similar facilities in the future.

Last month our team was proud to attend the opening of Goodwill's renovated store at 6624 San Pablo Avenue in Oakland. The regal ceremony was befitting of the hard work both SKA and Goodwill put into re-opening the store. Now that one month has passed, Goodwill has received news that the remodel was worth the time and effort. Sales at this location jumped 53% in the past 4 weeks! We invite all of you to visit this location and lend your support to a very worthy cause.

We braved the storm and trekked into San Francisco for our 2005 holiday bash at Il Fornaio. What a great surprise to bump into our good friends from SJ Engineers at the restaurant! A good meal with family and friends proved to be what we all needed before heading back out into the rain and wind.
