A
behavioral consultant was hired
to program the needs of this 500-person
group and to develop criteria to
be used by the design firm. Utilizing
this criteria, space plans were
developed around six functional
areas. In addition, the program
set up ergonomic parameters based
upon the employee cross section.
Lighting was determined to be the
key design issue. With the numerous
and varied usage of VDTs, the lighting
design was based upon optimizing
energy consumption, maximizing use
of standard catalogue fixtures,
simplifying maintenance, enhancing
the architectural envelope, reducing
glare and increasing overall visual
comfort.
