Shah
Kawasaki Architects completed a
Conceptual Master Plan and Schematic
Design that explored the renovation
of an existing one-story warehouse
into a secure and environmentally
appropriate facility to house, manage
and study the Oakland Museum of
California’s collections of
fine art, cultural history, ethnography,
natural sciences and photography.
Issues of flexibility, loading/unloading,
processing, preservation and storage
of, and access to the collections
were investigated to provide improved
staff, scholarly and public access
for research and education.
