California Academy of Sciences
San Francisco, CA
The Academy’s Cowell Entry Hall was redesigned to provide a more explicit exterior identity as a natural history museum. The design provides a clear functional admissions sequence, access for the physically challenged, and simplifies the organization of membership, security, book shop, orientation gallery, food service and visitor service functions.

Founded in 1853 as the first
scientific institution in the western United States,
the Academy’s mission is to explore, explain,
and protect the natural world.
