The
design of Fire Station No. 8 incorporated
new state-of-the-art standards for
the City of Oakland, including sustainable
“green” design features.
Building materials were selected
to maximize recycled content, and
a passive natural ventilation system
uses convection and the prevailing
wind to cool the building. The entire
design through construction process
was achieved in a record-breaking
16 months utilizing a fast-track
CM/GC delivery system.
This
is probably the fastest you’ll
ever see
a fire station go up in the
City of Oakland.
Besides being finished ahead
of schedule,
the project also came in under
budget
