The Oakland School for the Arts was founded by Oakland’s mayor to provide pre-professional arts training to creative students who would like to pursue careers in the arts. Designed as a fast track, design-build renovation, the basement of the historic Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts (Alice Arts Center) was converted into classrooms, offices, a music laboratory and a choral room with six rehearsal rooms in only seven months.
